Gartner Market Guide for Mobile Threat Defense Solutions 2019

“Adding a Mobile Threat Defense solution not only aims to address advanced malicious threats, but also to improve enterprise security hygiene and overall mobile security maturity by augmenting visibility into mobile security events and granularity of related alerts and remediation.” Gartner MTD report 2019.

We’re pleased to report that Gartner has Wandera as a representative vendor in the 2019 edition of their annual Market Guide for Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) solutions. The report is also now available to download.

What is the Gartner Market Guide for Mobile Threat Defense?

Gartner’s Market Guide for MTD Solutions is designed to help security leaders better understand the mobile threat defense marketplace, and give them the opportunity to determine which solutions best address their organization’s specific needs.

The guide is clear about the need for a solution that goes beyond UEM and spans the full spectrum of threats. It notes that by 2020, there will be a 200% increase in the number of organizations investing in MTD.

What’s in the Gartner Market Guide?

The report notes that attacks on mobile devices “almost doubled” in 2018. More of these than ever affecting unique users rather than entire organizations, showing a far more individually-targeted approach. These attacks aren’t exclusive to Android devices either, with iOS increasingly at risk.

This has led to a rising demand for what Gartner report calls an “all-around mobile security solution”, which can protect against all forms of attack. Gartner suggests that this can, in part, be done through the use of mobile EDR, a new technique which works to reduce devices’ endpoint visibility, as well as a concerted effort to protect unmanaged devices at organizations which operate BYOD policies.

  • The Gartner MTD report discusses:
  • The state of the mobile threat defense market, and what MTD solutions do
  • Where the market is heading, and signs of growth
  • An analysis of the MTD market, including deployment options and case studies of usage
  • Representative vendors
  • Recommendations for security and risk management professionals
