Eurostar is a high-speed railway service connecting London with cities in France and Belgium, and carrying more passengers than all airlines combined on the routes that it operates. Eurostar currently manages 1,800 mobile devices, of which the majority are iPhones with the remainder iPads. Eurostar’s onboard train staff must use tablets and smartphones to access safety information and train information before they can start the trains. So mobility has become a critical part of doing business.

The solution

IT solutions partner Qolcom recommended Wandera to Eurostar as the leading provider in mobile data cost management and threat defense. Eurostar deployed Wandera as part of a mobile refresh project to replace its fleet of iPhone 4s with iPhone 6s. When Eurostar re-provisioned its MDM solution MobileIron, Wandera was pushed to the devices at the same time.

Wandera’s integration with MobileIron makes deployment very simple and saves time because Eurostar’s support team doesn’t have to look at two different systems.

Eurostar took action immediately to reduce costs by using Wandera to configure policies that, for example, restrict access of roaming users in countries where the business doesn’t operate.

Wandera has given Eurostar a higher level of understanding of what employees are using their devices for. The company now has visibility into how end users are incurring high costs, and the ability to investigate instances of bill shock to prevent them happening again in the future.
