This week, Apple released their latest software update, iOS 8. Here are 3 things, from a mobile data usage perspective, that are worth considering:
- iCloud devices now see other devices with cellular radios as hotspots (iPhone and iPads). Wi-Fi iPads and Macs can now easily activate tethering on those other devices without touching them and start to use mobile data.
- iCloud Photo Library now syncs all photos to the cloud, using more data.
- Yosemite has new Auto Updates enabled, so if you are on a tethered device and an update is available, it will start downloading it automatically using cellular data.
If you’re considering upgrading to the new iPhone 6, it worth noting that the 6 has more LTE radio bands, meaning faster international roaming (and more data consumption).
