Wandera at Infosecurity 2016The annual trip to Olympia in west London for Infosec came and went this week with great success. In its 21st year, the event welcomed over 15,000 security professionals, 250+ speakers and 315+ vendors.

Although Infosec is not specifically a ‘mobility’ focused event, mobile security is becoming a key requirement for enterprises and mobility solutions providers.

The Wandera team was there in full force this year with our stand right in the main hall and we are happy to report that the appetite for advanced mobile threat defence is still as strong as ever.

Our CEO, Eldar Tuvey and VP of Product, Michael Covington pitched in to tackle the barrage of questions and concerns from worried professionals looking to understand the unique issues around mobile security and ensure they have the best solutions in place to protect their businesses.

But we aren’t just at InfoSec to meet customers. Our product teams got out their notepads and sat in on the sessions and presentations to see what other industry leaders are saying. It’s a huge point of validation for our SmartWire Labs team to hear again what we’ve seen and known for many years now: attacks on mobile devices are getting ever move sophisticated and the sheer numbers becoming staggering.

We sat in on great sessions on ransomware, phishing, leaky apps, insecure Wi-Fi, Man-in-the-middle, insecure data access and other hacking methods drawing big crowds. These issues are the cornerstones of the Wandera mission and the very thing we set out to help customers defend against and visualise.

On Wednesday I presented a session titled “Re-evaluating Mobile Security” in which I simply challenged the audience to take stock of the solutions they might have in place today and ask them “is it enough?” It’s a theme I discuss regularly with our enterprise customers and the answer is often not a good one when you consider the breadth and scale of nefarious activity by these motivated criminals and hackers.

In this day and age, nothing seems out of bounds for the criminals making and operating these huge attack programs and taking aim at your company’s mobile devices.

Fortunately, the vendors at Infosec are here to help.
