The next big thing in mobility is MDO of course. Dealing with the mobile data deluge will be a big challenge and opportunity for the mobile operators and companies such as ours.

I started out my career in investment banking, now I’m a tech entrepreneur. I was a corporate financier in London, but then I saw an opportunity in the tech space and went for it. Now I can’t think of doing anything else.

The coolest piece of technology I’ve recently come across is CodeAcademy. My son and I sit together in the evenings and we use it. It’s a great way for him to learn code.

I remember arriving in New York City for my first business trip aged 21. It dawned on me somewhere over the Atlantic that I’d only packed converse shoes. Had a major panic running around the city trying to buy black shoes before my 8am meeting.

My favorite app at the moment is chess.com. I’ve become addicted to online chess. The app has 7 million users so you can always get a game, and it’s a lot better for you than online poker!

My first mobile phone was a Mercury. I got it in 1994, it’s an antique! Now I’m on the iPhone 4s.

The most unexpected thing I learned along the way is that if you spend too much time thinking, you’ll never act. Research is important, but at some point, you simply have to act on your instinct.

If I could call myself five years ago and had 30 seconds, I’d say stop stressing out, in 5 years you’ll be coming back for seconds.

 

The best piece of advice I ever received was from my dad. He told me “You don’t learn anything when you are talking”.
